Through the care I received as a patient at HRCHC’s Park Place Family Medical Center, I was diagnosed with and received treatment for breast cancer. Dr. Markovic was prompt in referring me to the Every Woman’s Life program, where I received a series of diagnostic mammograms that confirmed that I had left breast cancer. I didn’t have to worry about costs or how I was going to get treatment! Because of HRCHC’s comprehensive healthcare services and referral, I received life-saving surgeries and much-needed treatment. I’m alive today because of Hampton Roads Community Health Center!

I came into the East Ocean View location seeking medical care for my newborn. My children had not been able to see a Pediatrician for about six months. They connected me with one of their enrollment specialists, and submitted an application for Emergency Medicaid for me and my children. The staff even made a follow-up appointment for all my children and me, even though I didn’t have insurance! I don’t know what I would do without Hampton Roads Community Health Center. They saved my family’s life!

I had the opportunity to go to the See Test and Treat event hosted by Hampton Roads community health center. I had not had a Pap smear in three years due to not having health insurance. So this was a complete blessing to be able to go and get examined and receive my “all clear” results on the same day! The doctors and staff were very professional and informative, and they took great care in educating us about cervical cancer and how it can be prevented by getting regular pap smear examination. They went above and beyond serving the community!

I was paying medical insurance for my wife (over $200 per pay period). An Outreach Specialist was able to sit me down and talk to me about various insurance options. Once they got a bit of personal information from me, we were able to submit an application for Medicaid. It was approved! My copay to see a doctor at any of their locations is significantly lower than what I was paying before. Their staff is so knowledgeable and I would have never known that I was eligible for these benefits if it wasn’t for them.

I was in a totally weird situation. I was covered under military insurance but my newborn baby wasn’t. I came to the Lincoln Street location a week after my baby was born. An Outreach Specialist submitted a Medicaid application for me and my baby. Dr Raji also immediately checked on my baby. There were some concerns so she referred me to get lab work done. The lab results came back on Dr. Raji’s day off but that didn’t stop her from helping us. I felt really safe and like everything was going to be okay.
