LETTER FROM THE CHAIR OF THE BOARD

On behalf of the 13-member board of directors, welcome to the Hampton Roads Community Health Center’s website. We hope that you find the
​information contained both informative and helpful.

As a federally qualified community health center, we are proud to serve all residents in the South Hampton Roads communities. Our team of employees consist of credentialed medical, dental and behavioral health providers. Our licensed nurses, medical assistants, dental hygienists and assistants, pharmacy and lab technicians, case managers and navigators are all available and delighted to serve our patients.

Hampton Roads Community Health Center has five locations in the cities of Portsmouth and Norfolk. Last year, it was recorded that we saw 12,628 patients, of which over half were individuals who were uninsured or underinsured. Our patients generated 32,348 service visits. Included in these numbers were 22,640 patient visits for chronic care and disease management, 8,795 oral health care services and 506 behavioral health care encounters.

Compassionate, trustworthy, knowledgeable and vision-driven sums up the character of our dedicated team of health care professionals.

ABOUT OUR BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Hampton Roads Community Health Center Board members are elected to serve on one or more of the following standing committees:

• Finance Committee – Typically chaired by the Board Treasurer. The committee makes recommendations regarding grant budgets, allocation of funds and monitors the monthly expenditures of the health center.

 

• Personnel Committee – chaired by a Board member. The committee reviews and approves employee personnel policies, job descriptions, salary scales and fringe benefits.

 

• Quality Improvement/Quality Assurance Committee – typically chaired by a Board member with a clinical background. The committee reviews the clinical goals of the organization and monitors the quality of care and patient satisfaction. The committee also provides oversight in accordance with performance improvement standards as set forth by the federal government, other regulatory agencies and/or accreditation bodies.

All Hampton Roads Community Health Center Board members actively participate in supporting the organization by raising funds, including seeking out potential donors and personally soliciting key prospective donors.
